OUR PHILOSOPHY

Create boats with “super design and superb performance”. This is the dream Maurizio Cossutti has cultivated since he was a child, the goal that has always guided his work: a perfect synthesis between creative “madness” and design concreteness.

A passion — even before it was a job — that has remained unchanged for over thirty years and which is now shared and supported by the entire team at the Cossutti Yacht Design Studio. The signature behind each and every project is the tireless pursuit of an ideal: the creation of high performance craft that are structurally reliable, easy to govern, with light displacement and distinctive design. It is from this vantage point that we start out designing all the aesthetic, technological and functional elements that characterize each Cossutti Yacht Design creation, always seeking a unique, balanced combination consistent with the client’s requests, whether it be a boatyard or a lucky owner.

“My childhood
dream:
to create boats
with super design
and super
performance”

LOOKING AT THE BEST SAILING EXPERIENCE

Sailing pleasure is the real focus of every Cossutti Yacht Design project. Whether she be a racing boat, or a cruise model, for us a good boat must be fast, with excellent maneuverability able to ensure as pleasant a sailing experience as possible.

The main strength of our team is our ability to meet the customers’ expectations, interpreting their personality and their needs and translating them into the best product possible. Our customers know we are uncommonly open-minded and that we do not take anything for granted. That is why our projects are fully tailored to each customer’s needs; they represent the perfect synthesis between our creativity and the owner’s style. We firmly believe that the concept behind every new boat is nothing other than a dream shared by designer, client and boatyard. And this is why it can only take shape through ongoing dialogue between client and designer, the building of a human relationship that goes well beyond mere professionalism, ensuring a collaboration geared to mutual growth. Enthusiasm and passion for our work lead us to continuously seek new solutions — in terms of both technology and design — for example studying waterlines and appendages that can give expression to something always new and better. Thanks to the many years of experience and the important achievements obtained in designing racing models, Cossutti Yacht Design is one of the few studios able to offer high level service to develop solutions compliant with ORC and IRC regulations, achieved through sail plan optimization or through hull and rudders modification and replacement, thus improving the rating/performance ratio. The experience accrued in many years of “racing-oriented” design has enabled the Cossutti studio to implement the same structural and hydrodynamic concepts in projects for boats intended mainly for cruising or fast cruising. The numerous, ongoing collaborations with such major, top-of-the-line boatyards as Bavaria Yachts, Nautor Swan, Italia Yachts, Salona are the foremost indication of how the Cossutti Yacht Design brand is now very much in demand and highly valued internationally, even for mass production models.

to start my career
with Maurizio.
And today, I am
proud to
contribute to the
future growth of
our Studio.”

AT WORK IN BOATYARDS,
TO FIND WINNING SOLUTIONS

Their great passion often leads Maurizio Cossutti and Alessandro Ganz to “get their hands dirty”.

Convinced that in-depth knowledge of construction processes is the only way to create good projects, they often visit boatyards to see first-hand the various construction phases, from the molds to the resin coating, all the way through to actual boat assembly. The dialogue with production managers is always fruitful and motivating, enabling the Cossutti team to keep up to date, in line with all the latest developments in materials, techniques and applications, including the use of technical fibers or innovative technologies. And thus, each project springs from the drawing board but is then tested and verified throughout the actual production process and, at times, modified according to the client’s specific needs.
